If your mind and body feel sluggish most of the time, you may have an underactive thyroid, referred to as hypothroidism. If your thyroid is clinically underactive your doctor may prescribe thyroid hormones to be taken directly. However, blood tests are often unable to detect sub-clinical hypo- thyroid, so it may be better to go by the symptoms.
